I was living in Geneva at the time, as i said was working for the U.N- later in the month i will publish other pictures form my old reportages i runned for the different NGO i workes with.
This one was a reportage i did it for the campaign in Switzerland about "gay-rights"
Now you need to understand that at the time i was still working on analogical cameras, was not easy!
it was a hell of a work. All over when i was shooting inside the building.. light during conferences are horrible.
By the way the idea to talk about my life at the time, i was gay.. actually I'm always been bisexual.. but at the time i was in love with a guy... you know... my philosophy was; I am not in love but I'm open to persuasion... Joan Armatrading... amazing song.
At the time life for gay people was not easy at all. But in Geneva, due to the fact that was full of people working at the U.N or in other organization, the "issue" was strongly felt by everyone.
At this point, they call me from DialoGay. His name was Vincent, he was in to Bondage Bikers.. and he tells me.. look, we really would like to run a reportage to publish on our website and on the major magazines in Geneva about gay-rights. The idea was to show the real soul of the community.
No boundaries, just a very welcoming feeling.. no racism, no preconception.. just freedom to be whatever you like to be.
So i start working on it.
As i wrote at the time i was in love with a few "chubbies" I'm always been into "chubby people and i thought that it would be nice to talk about the real us
So i proposed my idea to Vincent.
Why don't we talk also about transvestites, transecuals, BSDM, chubbies, bikers, etc
now i do not know the "political-correct" name but the idea was to expose reality, and not just a bundle of "cool rich dikes" kissing each other.
So here it is.
Don't know if publishing these pictures and talk about this "part" of me was a good idea.
I really do not would like to hurt the susceptibility of some of the users.
But i guess that "that's the way it is" is it?
Think that these pictures were made in analogical.. so they might appear "weird" but just to give you an example, to enhance the "feminine" side of Edin, the transvestite form Kosovo i used a Kodachrome 64.. pushing on the red... so
well enjoy...
